Appledore

Appledore has a picturesque quayside with quaint, narrow streets as well as cobbled courtyards.

This village is a peaceful haven full of character and charm, contrasting greatly to its smuggling history! Appledore is also renowned for its delicious Hockings Ice Cream which is made in Appledore and can only be bought in North Devon.

Ideal for couples and families alike, Appledore enjoys a good
all-round location. Just a short stroll from the bustling quayside of this vibrant fishing village, are its varied restaurants (fish a speciality in many), plenty of pubs, array of shops, art galleries and maritime museum. From the quayside are fishing trips, ferries to Instow and river cruises. A regular Bus service runs to Barnstaple. Westward Ho! (2 miles) has a long stretch of sand and good surf.

Also of interest nearby are: The Big Sheep farm park, The Milky Way activity park, Dartington Crystal, RHS Rosemoor, Tarka cycle trail and footpath. The Heritage port of Bideford (2 miles away) operates boat trips to Lundy Island.
